Haaaave you met Nate?
My name is Nate Gravelding. By day I am a high school science teacher, and by night, well that is personal. I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my fiancè Nell, our dog Pippa, our cat Scottie, and our menagerie of reptiles (5 snakes, a lizard and a tortoise), oh and my brother Connor! My passions include, woodworking (obviously), biking, running, reptiles, motorcycles, and nerding out about fantasy movies/books.
I grew up in Golden, Colorado, watching the transformation of our home as my dad remodeled and fixed it one room at a time. Watching his skill and creativity fascinated me, and I loved helping out wherever I could. This sparked my interest in craftsmanship, in high school I took the opportunity to enroll in beginners woodworking. This sated me and carried me to graduation.
While studying at CU, I focused on other passions, including competing as a decathlete and growing my collection of reptiles. With more reptiles came the opportunity to combine my love of woodworking with my passion for animals, building custom enclosures to suit their needs.
After graduating from CU with a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology, I earned my master's in teaching and learning for science. I’ve since been teaching biology and environmental science at Niwot High School, sharing my love for the natural world with my students.
For the past three years, I have been bouncing around, without the opportunity to fully settle my workshop, however, thanks to the Nell’s success (she got into med school), I am able to settle down for some time.
2024 has been an exciting year. I got engaged, moved to Fort Collins, got a kitten, remodeled our kitchen, and much more. We enjoy spending our free time running, training for the triple bypass, and discovering everything the area has to offer.
